I'm pleased to report that my first article, Pythagoras and the White Sox, has been published on The Hardball Times. Thanks to Dave Studeman and Aaron Gleeman for inviting me to submit my strugglings...
I'm sure somebody has probably asked you this already, but why did you decide to determine how current actual record and pyth. record predict final record/final win%, as opposed to "record in remaining games/w% in remaining games." This would seem to allow you to better analyse whether actual record or pyth record is a better predictor of future performance. Also, I believe Baseball Prospectus did a very similar study recently, a month or two ago. You might want to check that out.
Nice article, Dan. Good work. I just stumbled onto your site last week, and I like it quite a bit.
Also, pretend I wasn't totally rude, and that I started my first comment which "What JC Said," cause that's my story as well. You've been bumped upto My "Blogs - Level 1" folder on bloglines, a coveted honor, and easily the quickest ascent of anyone in that honored realm. Congrats on the THT article.
I've been reading you regularly for some months, and I'm glad your work is getting increased viewership.Interesting article today at THT.
